I’ve maybe convinced my Indian-motorcycle-driving FIL to buy one when he’s gotten “too old” for a bike.
Edit: I posted this as a part of tonight’s theme night. I’m in PA, they classify it as a car insomuch as you don’t need a M license, though you do need a helmet.

It is a car, yes. There are also motorcycles in similar wheel arrangements available as well.

Unless I am mistaken, at least in Missouri, these are still considered enough of a motorcycle that a helmet is required.

Legally it is a motorcycle.

I think it depends, state by state. Philosophically, I think it’s a super practical motorcycle. Mechanically, it has more in common with a car, since you’re got an Ecotec and a car transmission. Ride wise it probably has more in common with a motorcycle, but I wouldn’t wear a helmet driving one.
Ooh, shibboleth: do you drive it or ride it? If you drive it, it’s a car. If you ride it, it’s a bike.

I also didn’t realize they are only 20k? I would prefer this over a Miata or similar for an impractical fun vehicle.

Most states hold 3-wheeled vehicles as motorcycles. Most states also require helmets for motorcycle riders. Just make sure the FIL rides safe.

Def a motorcycle in IL, but we don’t have helmet laws.
Honestly, this things must be a blast. It makes a Miata look heavy because no airbags.
I wish more brands would make “motorcycles ” like this t o compete with Polaris . We’d have a whole new segment of enthusiast vehicles!

I don’t know if a 90 year-old man should be driving that either.

As a motorcycle rider, that’s a car. But I can appreciate the legal loophole of calling it a "motorcycle". Can-am Spyder is another option for those aging out of "real" bikes.
